Congress: Rumours of Rift in State Congress Dismissed by MP Ulaka | Bhubaneswar News

Koraput: Congress’ sole MP from Odisha, Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, has dismissed allegations of factionalism in Congress, state unit, regarding selection of the legislature party leader.
“The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader will be selected by 14 elected MLAs, and there is no dispute over it. Once the decision is approved by the All India Congress Committee, it should be accepted by all,” said Ulaka.“The Congress fought the recently-concluded election united, and we still stand united,” he added.
The selection process has highlighted two main contenders — five-time Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati and three-time Pottangi MLA Ram Chandra Kadam, both representing constituencies under Koraput Lok Sabha seat. Their candidatures underscore the regional significance and influence within the party’s legislative ranks.
Out of the 14 elected MLAs from the Congress, six hail from Koraput Lok Sabha constituency, reflecting the area’s strong representation and potential sway in the decision-making process. The upcoming selection is crucial as it will set the tone for the party’s legislative strategy and internal dynamics.
Despite the ongoing speculation and reported tensions, Ulaka’s assertions aim to project an image of solidarity and collective purpose within the Congress ranks as they prepare for the crucial leadership decision.
