Congress netas squat on road after their protest march stopped in Patna | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Congress netas, led by party’s state president Akhilesh Prasad Singh, squatted on the road after their ‘Ambedkar Samman March‘ on Tuesday was stopped by the district administration. The march was held to protest against the alleged remark of Union minister Amit Shah against Baba Saheb Ambedkar in Parliament.
Before taking out the march, Congress netas garlanded the statue of BR Ambedkar at Ambedkar Bhawan, Yarpur. After this, they marched towards Shaheed Smarak. However, they were stopped by the district administration officials as the route being followed was a no-protest zone.
When stopped, they squatted with photographs of Baba Saheb in hand and raised slogans against Shah and demanded his resignation. Congress netas then moved back to the Ambedkar’s statue, where their state president addressed them.
“Both the state and the central govts are suppressing the voice of the opposition. The way our peaceful protest was stopped shows that the country is being run by dictators. However, let me make it clear that the country will be run by the Constitution, and until the Union home minister resigns, we will continue with our protests,” Singh said.
Similar marches were taken out across all the district headquarters.
