Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday asserted that his party would reclaim lost ground in the Konkan, where it faced reverses in the Lok Sabha and assembly polls last year. He was speaking after Mumbai Congress functionary Sahdev Petkar rejoined the Shiv Sena (UBT).
Taking a dig at the rival Shiv Sena headed by deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, Thackeray declared that there is only one Shiv Sena, and it is led by him.
Konkan was once the bastion of the Shiv Sena. After the split, Shiv Sena (UBT) not only lost most of the seats in the region but also several of its leaders from there, including former MLA Rajan Salvi, who joined the Shinde-led Shiv Sena after the 2024 assembly polls. At the moment, Bhaskar Jadav is the lone Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA in the Konkan.
