Cong march against Shah’s remarks on Ambedkar today | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: The Congress will launch a ‘Samvidhan (Constitution) March’ on Tuesday to protest what they describe as the “disrespectful” comments made by Union home minister Amit Shah against Bhimrao Ambedkar in the Parliament. The announcement was made during a press conference at the state party office on Monday.
Mohan Prakash, in-charge of Bihar Congress, said, “BJP netas have consistently insulted our freedom fighters. The party is not only anti-Constitution but also anti-democracy, which is evident in their actions of weakening every constitutional body and democratic institution. Shah’s disrespectful comment against Baba Saheb reflects not just his personal views but the entire party’s stance towards our freedom fighters and Constitution makers and it is unforgivable.”
Prakash added, “The BJP has always been against the Constitution, which guarantees equal rights to every citizen — a concept that the party clearly dislikes. After insulting the Constitution on the streets and at rallies, they have now taken it to the floor of Parliament as well.”
“All freedom fighters are our ancestors and the Congress will not tolerate the insult of any of our forefathers. We will not allow the BJP and the Narendra Modi govt to weaken democracy and strip away the rights of equality from the common people of this country,” Prakash said.
State Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh also weighed in, saying that the party would hold the march as a show of support for Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. “The BJP tried to stifle and discredit our protest in Parliament over the insults from their top leadership. Now, we will continue our fight here in the state, organising a march to honour Baba Saheb and uphold the respect due to him,” Singh said.
