Cong govt to focus more on welfare, development in 2025 | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Irrigation and civil supplies minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday said welfare schemes for the poor and development of the state were benchmarks of chief minister A Revanth Reddy-led Congress govt in 2024. He added that much more welfare, development, social justice, and further transparency will be the hallmark of the govt in 2025.
The sub-classification of the SCs and BC reservations in local bodies would be done in tune with the Supreme Court orders.”More ayacut will be brought under cultivation by completing irrigation projects at a lower cost. The long-awaited white ration cards will be issued to all the eligible families, and fine variety rice will be distributed through ration shops in 2025,” he added.
Stating that all the 119 assembly constituencies would get international standard integrated residential school campuses, Uttam said the 500 bonus for fine variety paddy would continue even for the ensuing rabi crop season.
“The year 2024 saw free bus travel being extended to women, 10 lakh Aarogyasri medical treatment cover, gas cylinder for 500, free electricity up to 200 units, 21,000 crore worth crop loan waiver of lakhs of farmers, and 2025 will also see implementation of 15,000 per annum Rythu Bharosa and other welfare schemes,” he added.
On the other hand, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar listed out the achievements of the transport department in 2024 with initiatives like the e-vehicle policy, vehicle scrap policy, and women empowerment through free bus travel that saw 125 crore free bus trips by women — all worth 4,225 crore — and new electric buses were purchased.
As many as 112 candidates were selected for the assistant motor vehicle inspectors post. The vehicle registration code changed from TS to TG, with 8.04 lakh vehicles being registered with TG so far, and a new logo for the transport department was unveiled.
