Completion of Patna’s JP Ganga Path 4th Phase Expected by February 2025 | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: The construction works of the fourth phase of J P Ganga Path, commonly known as Marine Drive in the state capital, are in the final stage. The fourth phase, from Kangan Ghat to Deedarganj, is estimated to be completed by February next year and is expected to be operational from March 2025, according to officials.
The 20.5-km-long stretch of the four-lane J P Ganga Path from Digha to Deedarganj is being developed by Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL).The 12.1km stretch from Digha to Gaighat was made operational for commuters last year. The Ganga Path project comprises a 6.5-km-long stretch at-grade level and a 14-km-long elevated section, connecting Digha to Kacchi Dargah along the Ganga.
“The construction on the 5km stretch of J P Ganga Path from Kangan Ghat to Deedarganj is progressing at a very fast pace. The segment work at the 12 spans of the four-lane is left. The construction work is left at around 600 metres of the total distance. It is expected to be completed by February 28, 2025,” said a senior BSRDCL official.
The journey from Digha to Deedarganj will be completed in around 20-25 minutes after the completion of the project. The first phase of the J P Ganga Path from Digha to PMCH was made operational in June 2022, while the second phase from PMCH to Gaighat was opened to the public in August 2023. Kangan Ghat, which is 15.5km from Digha, was made operational in July this year.
At 16.5km from Digha, there is Patna Ghat, where the road construction work was earlier delayed as the land of railways was not transferred to the state govt. A BSRDCL official said the connectivity from Malsalami to Patna Sahib railway station was left due to the unavailability of land. The railways has to acquire the land and transfer it to the BSRDCL.
“Foot overbridges will be built at three places between Digha and Gandhi Maidan on the Ganga Path for pedestrians to cross the road. Apart from this, other facilities, including a food plaza, will be opened. The Ganga Path will improve the traffic by connecting the city’s eastern (Deedarganj) and western parts (Digha). It has stops like LCT Ghat, A N Sinha Institute, PMCH, Krishna Ghat, Gai Ghat, Kangan Ghat, Patna Ghat and Deedarganj,” the BSRDCL official added.
Toll plazas at two places are being built on the J P Ganga Path. One toll plaza is near Rajapur Pul and another will be developed in Deedarganj. The toll will be decided later by the state govt. Ganga Path is also linked to Atal Path on the Digha side and to Ashok Rajpath at nine places.
