Coldplay Concert Special Trains: Western railway to launch special trains for Coldplay concerts; all you need to know | Mumbai News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Western Railway is set to run two special trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26 to accommodate passengers traveling for the highly anticipated Coldplay concerts, which are scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat.
These trains are being introduced as “winter specials” under a directive from the Railway Board to address the surge in demand caused by the concerts, an official confirmed on Thursday.

The special trains will depart from Bandra Terminus at 6.15am and arrive in Ahmedabad at 2.00 pm on January 25 and 1.00pm on January 26.
The return journeys are scheduled to begin at 1.40am on January 26 and 12.50am on January 27, with both trains reaching Bandra Terminus at approximately 8.40am and 8.30am, respectively. Along the way, the trains will stop at Borivali, Vapi, Udhna, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara and Gertapur in both directions.
Officials noted that airfares between Mumbai and Ahmedabad have surged due to the concerts, and regular trains on the route are fully booked. Given Coldplay’s massive fan base and past experiences during high-demand events like the Cricket World Cup, they anticipate that even these special trains might fall short of meeting the demand.
For the concerts scheduled at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21, the event organisers have arranged Full Tariff Rate (FTR) suburban trains to facilitate travel for attendees.
The FTR trains will run between Goregaon and Nerul station, halting at Bandra, Andheri, Wadala Road, Chembur, and Jainagar stations. On January 18 and 19, trains will depart Goregaon at 2.00pm and reach Nerul at 3.23pm, returning at 11.04pm to arrive in Goregaon by 12.30 am.
On January 21, the train will depart Goregaon at 2.50 pm and reach Nerul at 6.18 pm, with a return trip starting at 10.50 pm and ending at 12.15 am.
Tickets for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad special trains are available on BookMyShow, though officials were unsure whether the trains would exclusively cater to concert ticket holders or also accommodate the general public.
