Coinciding with Centre’s programme, cycling event to be organised at Ganga Path in Patna | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: Union minister of youth affairs and sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, will flag off the ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays‘ initiative on Tuesday in New Delhi. Coinciding with this, a cycling event will be organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) training centre in Patna at Ganga Path.
The Patna event will feature Nutan Kumari, World Wushu Championship 2024 bronze medallist, leading a 5-km joy ride along the Ganga Path under construction, from the Toll Plaza to Digha cut and back. Known athletes from the state will participate alongside local fitness enthusiasts and sports lovers, promoting the spirit of health and fitness.
The ministry of youth affairs and sports, in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), MY Bharat, SAI regional centres, National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), Khelo India Centres (KICs), Sports Training Centres (STCs), and district administrations, is spearheading these events.
The ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays’ initiative will simultaneously be launched at over 1,000 venues across the country on Tuesday, with events taking place at various SAI regional centres. Following the launch, cycling events will continue nationwide every Tuesday.
The Fit India Movement, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, is an initiative aimed at making India a global sports superpower. The movement emphasises health, fitness and promotion of indigenous games, aligning with the broader vision of a healthy and active nation.
