Cockroaches, expired food found in Hyderabad restaurants | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Food Safety Task Force found a cockroach infestation along with several unhygienic conditions at Indian Darbar Restaurant in Narayanaguda.
During their inspection, officials documented multiple violations. Kitchen staff were not wearing proper aprons, and uncovered boiled eggs were found near drainage areas. The refrigerator contained food items without proper labeling of preparation and expiry dates.
The inspection team also found and disposed of deteriorated vegetables, including tomatoes, green chilies, and carrots with visible fungal growth. The storeroom had improper storage, with sanitary products placed alongside food items. The establishment failed to provide pest control documentation and health certificates for its food-handling staff.
Additionally, the restaurant was found using synthetic food colorants. Several expired food products, including masala powder, cumin powder, hazelnut-flavored syrup, and chili flakes, were discovered and removed.
Similarly, a cockroach infestation was observed at Hotel Ashoka in Lakdikapul. Vessels in the kitchen and refrigerator were found to be rusty, and synthetic food colors were used in prepared items. Food safety officials also discovered rotten brinjal and cauliflower.
