Cuttack: To provide relief from the heat, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) will install over 140 drinking water facilities and sheds at various public congregation points across the city.
The installation is aimed at ensuring the availability of adequate drinking water to the public during the scorching heat.
CMC has planned to install 79 PVC tanks and open 12 ‘Paniya Jala Bitaran Kendras‘ in different areas where public footfall is high. These centres will provide free drinking water.
CMC engineers have been directed to inspect and make functional 47 water coolers installed in various parts of the city.
“We are committed to ensuring that no citizen suffers because of water scarcity during summer. Our teams are working diligently to install water tanks and make water kiosks functional by the end of this week,” said CMC mayor Subhash Singh.
A team of officials have been engaged to carry out the work and all materials have been procured and the process of installation is going on across the city, Singh added.
“This time we have given special attention to the sanitation of the drinking water facilities,” he said.
Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital will also open a Paniya Jala Bitaran Kendra on its campus to ensure the availability of safe drinking water.
