CM Urges Central Government for Support in Developing Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Mohan Majhi on Tuesday asked the Centre to provide support for developing disaster-resilient infrastructure in the state which faces recurring natural disasters such as cyclones and floods every year. Majhi expressed his views during a discussion with the central team that had come to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Dana.
“While the govt has been successful in saving lives, significant damage to infrastructure occurs, necessitating substantial investments on reconstruction. Therefore, there is a pressing need to develop disaster-resilient infrastructure,” Majhi said.
The CM proposed setting up of a modern disaster management centre in Bhubaneswar and sought the Union govt’s support in this direction.
Majhi highlighted measures such as underground power cabling in coastal districts, construction of embankments, and extensive mangrove plantation as critical steps to enhance disaster resilience.
