CM unveils statue of Acharya Kishore Kunal at Mahavir Cancer Sansthan | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday unveiled a statue of Acharya Kishore Kunal on the campus of Mahavir Cancer Sansthan (MCS) in Patna. He also laid the foundation stone for a dharmshala that will be built in Kunal’s memory at the same site.The twin events were held to mark the 75th birth anniversary of the late Kunal. Union minister Kiren Rijiju was among the guests present on the occasion.MCS has grown into one of the leading cancer diagnosis and treatment centres in Bihar. Kunal, who initially served as Patna’s SP in the early 1980s, later resigned from the Indian Police Service to dedicate himself to education and to cultural and religious initiatives. He was particularly known for his role in the renovation of Mahavir temple near Patna Junction.He went on to join the Ramjanmabhoomi movement and was appointed chairman of the Bihar State Religious Trust Board. Despite his many roles, he remained most closely associated with Mahavir temple, a school for children, Mahavir Cancer Sansthan and Mahavir Vatsalya Hospital.
