CM shifts 2 women babus months into their tenure – The Times of India

Mumbai: CM Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday shifted two high-ranking women bureaucrats before completion of their mandatory two-year tenure.
Principal secretary (environment) Vinita Vaid Singal has been shifted to the food and civil supplies department in place of Jayashree S Bhoj, who will exchange her post with Singal.
Singal, an IAS officer of the 1996 batch, was posted in the environment department on Jan 4, 2025, while Bhoj was deployed in the food and civil supplies department on Jan 3, 2025.
“Fadnavis will not shift women bureaucrats in such a manner. There must be specific reasons for these transfers. Only the CM will be able to explain the sudden transfers,” a senior bureaucrat told TOI. Ever since Fadanvis took office as CM in Dec, Maharashtra has witnessed several minor reshuffles in the bureaucracy. So far, more than 80 IAS officers have been shifted, but most of the transfers were regular in nature. This time, however, women bureaucrats have been shifted suddenly. “The transfer of women bureaucrats, that too in a short span, has sent shock waves in the bureaucracy and in IPS circles,” a bureaucrat said.
