CM sets March 31 deadline for proposal submission to fill over 1 lakh govt vacancies in Odisha | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: During a discussion with heads of commissions holding recruitment drives for govt posts, chief minister Mohan Majhi on Wednesday instructed all departments to submit proposals to the commissions by March 31 for filling various posts.
Currently, there are 1,10,557 vacant posts in various govt departments. Govt has set a target of 1.5 lakh appointments over the next five years, with 65,000 positions already secured for recruitment within two years.
Majhi also called for a separate recruitment drive within a specified time frame to fill up vacancies reserved for scheduled tribes (ST) and scheduled castes (SC). “If the govt’s manpower increases, better services can be provided to the public,” he added.
The CM emphasised the need for a flawless, impartial and expedited recruitment process. He advised filling up vacancies in essential service departments such as health, home, school and mass education, higher education and agriculture.
For group-B positions, Majhi instructed that approval from the empowered committee is not required. A decision was made to reorganise the empowered committee in the finance department to include representatives from the social security department for verification and reservation in the recruitment of differently-abled individuals.
Additionally, the CM proposed establishing an exam centre of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) at Jeypore for the convenience of candidates residing in Koraput district. Currently, there are five examination centres of OPSC in the state.
Apart from heads of different recruitment commissions, chief secretary Manoj Ahuja and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
