Hyderabad: Hours after Operation Sindoor, chief minister A Revanth Reddy put the police and officials of all state departments on high alert. He directed them to increase security around all sensitive areas, consulates and prominent IT companies in and around Hyderabad, and district centres.Revanth reviewed security measures at defence installations in the city at an emergency meeting on Wednesday which included officers from the armed forces, DGP, and other top police officers and disaster management authorities.Besides cancelling leaves of those providing emergency services, the chief minister asked all hospitals and blood banks to have enough supplies of essential medicines and blood. A helpline for people in need will also be set up.“We should give a message that we are all with the country’s defence forces. There is no room for politics at this time,” he said. “People are advised to keep vigil but also be reassured that the Centre and state are working together for their safety. We request total cooperation from all citizens at this hour,” the chief minister said.Strict action will also be taken if govt employees make unnecessary statements in the media and social media, Revanth warned.Officials were told to coordinate with the Red Cross Society. Besides increasing their presence on the streets, police officials were also told to keep their guards up in terms of cyber security.“False information is likely to increase public anxiety. A special cell should be set up to curb misinformation. CCTV cameras should be connected to the command control room in the three commissionerates of the city. If necessary, talk to peace committees. The police department should be alert against history sheeters and habituated criminals,” Revanth added.Revanth along with deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka reviewed the situation again after the mock drills in the city and directed the police to make special security arrangements around the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.“Adequate protection should be provided to foreign tourists visiting Telangana. State intelligence teams should coordinate with the central intelligence agencies,” Revanth said. The chief minister enquired about the arrangements being made for the supply of essential commodities.
