CM reviews energy dept activities

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted a comprehensive review of the energy department’s activities at the Lok Sabha Bhawan on Monday, focusing on summer power supply preparations and implementation of PM Surya Ghar Yojana.
During the meeting, Majhi emphasised achieving a minimum 85% utilisation of the department’s budget expenditure and outlined strategies to prevent power disruptions during peak summer months. The primary focus was on upgrading infrastructure, including feeders and transformers, to address overloading issues.
“Officials to ensure a robust backup system and maintain continuous dialogue with power generation companies to meet peak hour demands,” reads a govt statement.
He also announced plans to seek central govt assistance when required. He directed power distribution companies to implement a quick response system for addressing outages and maintaining an uninterrupted power supply during summer.
Also, he proposed the installation of sensor-based electrical equipment in govt offices to promote energy conservation. To boost participation in the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the govt will launch a comprehensive awareness campaign across the state. The initiative aims to promote sustainable energy solutions while reducing the burden on conventional power sources.
The meeting concluded with specific directives to departmental secretaries to implement measures preventing electricity wastage in govt establishments.
