CM relief fund offices open in dists for faster aid

Mumbai: On Maharashtra Day, district-level offices of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) were inaugurated by their respective guardian ministers. Previously, people from across the state in need of financial assistance from govt had to travel to south Mumbai.
CM Devendra Fadnavis had announced the idea of district-level cells last month. CMRF receives thousands of applications for aid every month. According to data available from CMRF, from Dec 2024-April 30, it helped 9,643 patients by disbursing Rs 85 crore.

“Many families apply to CMRF cell for financial help with medical treatment. They frequently follow up on the application. By setting up the district-level cell, we are trying to reduce their hardship,” said CMRF head Rameshwar Naik. A senior official said people would come to the city from remote areas of the state to apply. “Now, no one from Nashik or Chandrapur needs to travel to Mumbai. To check the application’s status, they only need to visit the district collector’s office.”
The district-level cell will assist patients and relatives with the application process, provide the current status of applications, and visit patients who received financial assistance in hospital.
