CM presents plan to position state as global industrial hub | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Setting the tone for the much-anticipated Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha Conclave-2025, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented Odisha’s ambitious plan to position itself as a global industrial hub on Monday. Majhi spoke at the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII)’s session here on the eve of the two-day Utkarsh Odisha investment summit.
Describing Odisha as the rising star of the East, Majhi said the state emerged as a key player in India’s industrial ecosystem. He called on global and domestic investors to view Odisha as a strategic partner, expressing his govt’s unwavering commitment to creating a business-friendly ecosystem.
“Odisha stands tall as a vigorous partner to script success as a means of its diversified industrial empowerment. It is the cynosure of solidarity and spirited growth, with glittering progress. As the chief minister, my primary objective is to create massive opportunities for the people, especially our youth,” said Majhi.
The chief minister shared his simple yet ambitious vision of attracting industrial investments, creating jobs, and ensuring sustainable economic growth for the people of Odisha. He outlined the state’s three-pronged strategy: developing robust industrial infrastructure, championing ease of doing business, and advocating large-scale job creation.
He assured streamlined regulatory processes and ready-to-use facilities for industries, reinforcing the state’s commitment to reducing the cost of doing business. “Industrialisation in Odisha is not just about plants and infrastructure but about investing in people. Our agenda is to create quality employment opportunities and equip our youth with skills to succeed anywhere,” he pointed out.
Emphasising the transparency and accountability of his govt, Majhi said every investor is treated as a valued partner. “My doors will always be open for discussions on your success stories, challenges, and grievances as part of your journey with us,” he assured.
Majhi extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will inaugurate the conclave on Tuesday, and cited his deep focus on initiatives like Vikshit Odisha and Purvodaya under Vikshit Bharat.
Expressing confidence in Odisha’s ability to become a beacon of industrial progress and innovation, he invited industry leaders to join hands in realising the vision of a Samrudha Odisha by 2036.
Among others, industries minister Sampad Chandra Swain, CII president and ITC CMD Sanjiv Puri, CII director general Chandrajit Banerjee, and CII sectoral council members were present during the session.
Earlier in the evening, Governor of Odisha Hari Babu Kambhampati attended a special session ‘Utkarsh Odisha: A Catalyst Towards a Vikshit Bharat’ with Young Indians chapter of CII.
