CM pledges support for folk arts



Keonjhar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi emphasised the crucial role of folk art in maintaining social unity and cultural continuity while addressing the 47th district-level literature promotion conference and “Pala Sammelani” at Baneikala village in Keonjhar district on Sunday evening.
Speaking at the event organised by the Shri Satyanarayan Pala Samiti Keonjhar, Majhi praised the dedication of pala artistes in preserving traditional art forms amid dominance of digital entertainment platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram, and OTT services. “The life of palakars is like walking on the swords edge,” the chief minister said, quoting legendary pala singer Paramananda Sharan, noting the continued relevance of these words today.
Majhi announced several initiatives to support folk artists, including plans to incorporate folk art into education and create more platforms for showcasing of talent. “As your chief minister, I am committed to promoting our cultural heritage and ensuring its development for future generations,” he said.
The event saw participation of prominent figures, including president of Maa Tarini Palakar Parishad, Kendujhar, Ramakant Patra, president of Shri Nilachal Nikhilotkal Pala Gayak Parishad, Odisha, Madan Mohan Jena and permanent president of Maa Tarini Palakar Parishad, Kendujhar, Narayan Chandra Dash.
