Keep all pumping stationsfunctional: CM to officials

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday inspected the arrangements made to tackle the situation of waterlogging in Patna and its adjoining areas and issued necessary instructions to the officials. He asked the officials to keep all drainage pumping stations functional to drain out the rainwater.
Accompanied by a team of senior officials, including urban development and housing department’s (UDHD) principal secretary Anand Kishore and Patna divisional commissioner Kumar Ravi, the CM oversaw the drainage pumping station in Pahari area and reviewed the arrangements made for water drainage.
After that, the CM saw the drainage pumping station at Varmuta in Patna City area and enquired about the drainage system in the area.
During the inspection, the CM enquired in details about the arrangements made to deal with the situation of waterlogging in Patna and its adjoining areas from the principal secretary, UDHD.
Kishore informed the CM that rainwater was being pumped out from the town areas by different drainage pumping stations functioning round the clock.
The CM further asked the officials to make such an arrangement that there should be no problem of waterlogging after heavy rain in the urban areas.
Nitish further asked the officials to keep all drainage pumping station fully functional to ensure speedy draining out of the rainwater.
The CM also asked the officials to ensure immediate draining out of the rainwater in case of waterlogging in a particular area, so that residents do not face any difficulty.
Principal secretary to the CM Deepak Kumar, Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh, PMC commissioner Animesh Parashar also accompanied the CM during the inspection.

Failure to do so may result in legal action. This move aimed to boost groundwater levels aligns with Environmental Protection Building Regulations 2020 and RIICO Building Regulation 2021 for industrial areas.
