Patna: J P Ganga Path, also known as Patna’s Marine drive, will now be connected to the Mahatma Gandhi Setu and the new four-lane bridge being constructed alongside it, CM Nitish Kumar said here on Thursday.While inspecting the ongoing construction of the down ramp towards the Ganges from the J P Ganga Path at Gaighat here, Nitish asked the road construction department (RCD) officials to take necessary steps to connect J P Ganga Path with the Mahatma Gandhi Setu and the new four-lane bridge being constructed alongside it. “Engineers should study the linking of the Ganga Path from both the bridges and ensure the work is carried out efficiently,” the CM said.The down ramp is being constructed towards the river at Gaighat to ensure smooth vehicle movement and road safety on J P Ganga Path.“Currently, there is a U-turn arrangement for vehicles at Gaighat under the JP Ganga Path Project, but with the construction of this down ramp, the U-turn arrangement will be eliminated,” a communique issued from the chief minister office (CMO) said.During the inspection, Nitish said the construction of the down ramp should be completed swiftly so that people can benefit from direct and safe connectivity to the J P Ganga Path at Gaighat.Earlier, the CM inspected the beautification work on the J P Ganga Path. He inspected the landscaping, plantation and beautification work being carried out on the JP Ganga Path. “After plantation, the area will appear lush,” Nitish said adding, “the JP Ganga Path is a remarkable project, and its beautification should be done in an excellent manner.”After that, the CM reached Gaighat, where he inspected the construction work of the down ramp towards the riverFrom Gaighat, the CM went to Kachchi Dargah and inspected the under-construction Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane bridge over the Ganges. During the inspection, the CM asked the RCD officials to complete the construction work promptly.“The JP Ganga Path project has been completed up to Didarganj,” Nitish said and asked the official to complete the remaining work of the bridge swiftly to establish direct connectivity for vehicles traveling from JP Ganga Path to the Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane bridge.“The completion of the Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane bridge will facilitate easier movement between North and South Bihar and provide relief from traffic congestion in Patna city. This bridge will enable people to travel easily to various places in North Bihar from outside Patna city. Residents of the eastern part of Patna will also benefit from improved road and bridge facilities,” Nitish said.
