CM distributes appointment letters to over 6k new recruits | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday handed appointment letters to 6,390 newly recruited govt employees across nine departments at a state-level ‘Nijukti Mela’, held at Capital High School here.
Health and family welfare department had the most appointments with 2,878 followed by the school and mass education department with 2,767, fisheries and animal resources department with 232 and the finance department with 130 among others.
Speaking at the event, CM Majhi emphasised that govt service is not merely employment but a medium for public service. “In the past seven months, we organised six recruitment fairs and provided over 20,000 appointments,” he said.
Majhi stated that the govt aims to provide 65,000 appointments in its first two years in power. “Nowadays, especially in a populous country like India, opportunities for employment in the govt sector are very limited,” Majhi said.
The CM mentioned that even if all vacant positions are filled, only a maximum of 4,50,000 people will be able to get jobs in the govt sector, which is less than one per cent of the state’s population. “You have been given this opportunity within this one per cent,” he told the new recruits.
Majhi further said that all newly appointed individuals are starting their professional lives on a blank slate. “You do not have the hangover of a governance system spanning two-and-a-half decades. Therefore, you have the opportunity to work with an open mind and heart,” he added.
The CM highlighted the govt’s commitment to clean administration, warning against corruption and emphasising the importance of integrity in public service. He also mentioned investment proposals of Rs 17 lakh crore received during Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, which could generate approximately 13 lakh jobs.
Notable appointments made on Friday included 2,753 multi-purpose female health workers, 125 AYUSH doctors, 894 principals and teachers for Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas, and 1,798 teachers for aided high schools.
“The state govt has set an ambitious target of 1,50,000 appointments in the govt sector over the next five years as part of its vision to make Odisha the growth engine of a developed India by 2047,” read a govt statement.
