CM directs city cops to curb crimes in slum areas | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday directed city police to strengthen law enforcement in slum areas to prevent criminal activities.Highlighting the concern over criminal activities in slums, Majhi urged police to implement strict measures against unlawful elements. “There are over 400 slums in Bhubaneswar and more than 24 in Cuttack.To prevent crimes in slums and protect the residents, police should take a proactive role,” Majhi said while attending the raising day celebration of commissionerate police.He commended Odisha police for successfully maintaining law and order throughout the state, particularly in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.Majhi emphasised the need for effective handling of cyber crime, which has become a significant challenge. “My govt is committed to enhance police capabilities and provide necessary infrastructure to support investigations into cyber-related offences,” Majhi said.He stressed the importance of maintaining law and order for fostering business growth. He emphasised that a peaceful environment is crucial for attracting investments and ensuring sustainable economic development.DGP Y B Khurania appreciated the govt’s efforts to strengthen the state police. He noted that recent allocations of police vehicles, recruitment drives and improved logistics have boosted the morale of the force.
