CM asks officials to speed up public welfare works | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday chaired a council of ministers meeting and emphasised the need for expansion of public welfare initiatives across departments.
During the meeting, attended by deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and ministerial colleagues, Majhi reviewed the 2024-25 budget expenditure and directed departments lagging in spending to accelerate their pace before the upcoming budget session.
The council evaluated progress in key sectors, including healthcare, infrastructure development, and social security schemes. Special attention was given to the implementation of central schemes like the PM Awas Yojana and Ayushman Bharat.
Infrastructure development, particularly road and bridge construction projects under the public works and rural development departments, was thoroughly assessed. The agriculture department’s plans for cold storage facilities and the water resources department’s ongoing projects were also discussed.
“Departments must achieve 100% expenditure targets within the next two months,” the CM said, encouraging officials to break from conventional approaches and implement innovative, long-term solutions. TNN
