CM announces ex-gratia for family of student killed in accident

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the family of a 14-year-old student who died in a tragic road accident in Sambalpur on Friday morning. The compensation will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The victim, Ayushman Behera, a Class IX student of Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir in Dhanupali, was fatally injured when a tractor struck him around 10:45 am while he was outside his home.
Local residents rushed the critically injured boy to Sambalpur district headquarters hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The CMO, Odisha announced the ex-gratia payment through their official X handle in the evening.
Majhi expressed profound grief over the untimely death of the young student. “The chief minister has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a Class 9 student in a road accident in Sambalpur. He also directed that a compassionate assistance of Rs 4 lakh be provided to the family of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” the CMO post reads.
