Class X examinee dies on way to exam centre | Bhubaneswar News

Koraput: A 16-year-old student of Class X was killed when his bike rammed into a pick-up van near Nandanguda under Malkangiri police station limits in Malkangiri district on Thursday. The victim was an HSC examinee and was on his way to an examination centre in Serapali to appear for his last HSC exam. His friend, who was riding pillion, was also injured in the accident. He later appeared for the exam after receiving preliminary treatment. According to police reports, neither of them was wearing a helmet.
The victim was identified as Bikram Sardar and his friend as Tapas Sardar. Both were students of Padmagiri High School and residents of MV 101 village.
“The motorcycle crashed into the pick-up van coming from the opposite direction. Bikram succumbed to severe head injuries on the spot, while Tapas sustained was rushed to Malkangiri hospital,” Rigan Kindo, inspector in-charge of Malkangiri police station, said.
Police suspect that Bikram lost control of the motorcycle as it was a heavy one, leading to the fatal crash. The driver of the van fled the spot and an investigation has been launched to ascertain further details.
“The van has been seized and we are trying to apprehend the driver,” Kindo added.
