Class VIII student wins national quiz
Berhampur: Biswajeet Mishra, a Class VIII student of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV), Chamakhandi in Ganjam district, bagged the first position in the national-level quiz competition in the junior level (Class V to VIII). The competition was conducted by the minerals directorate for exploration and research, Visakhapatnam, under the department of atomic energy.
The competition was held online across the country on Feb 13, on the occasion of the National Science Day celebration by the organisation. P. Bishnupriya, a Class IX student of the school, also stood first in the essay competition at the zonal level.
A team of officers led by Indrajit Patra, senior scientific officer-cum-in-charge of the organisation’s Visakhapatnam unit, visited the school on Saturday and presented the trophy and certificates to the winners, said Pramod Kumar Behera, principal of the school.
He said the organisation also presented a trophy as well as a certificate to the school as more students participated in the competition. The organisation felicitated the art teacher, Sikan Kumar Panda, as a number of students in both categories participated in the art competition, said the principal. “We are happy as our school excelled in the national competition and bagged the first prize in the quiz competition,” said the principal.
Saroj Mishra, a cardiologist and father of Biswajeet, said he is very keen to know about everything and often participates in quizzes.
