Class V student dies of suspected heart attack

Rourkela: An 11-year-old student of a govt-run upper primary school died of a suspected heart attack at Koida in Sundargarh district’s Bonai sub-division on Thursday. The authorities have ordered an inquiry into the incident.
Tapan Naik, a resident of Kamanda village and a Class V student at the Government Upper Primary School, Koida, complained of chest pain around 6:30 am in his hostel room. The hostel’s assistant superintendent, Ratha Naik, immediately rushed him to the Koida CHC, where he was pronounced dead around 9 am during treatment.
According to medical authorities at the CHC, the preliminary cause of death has been attributed to heart failure. The deceased was staying at the 40-bed hostel facility run by the SC & ST department on the school premises.
“An inquiry will be conducted into the death of the student,” said Amulya Kumar Pradhan, district education officer, Sundargarh. The boy’s parents, who rushed to the health centre after being informed about their son’s critical condition, were later handed over the body of the deceased.
