Sambalpur: A Class IX student of a govt high school here allegedly jumped into the Mahanadi on Saturday. According to joggers, the girl dressed in her school uniform left her bicycle and school bag on Chaurpur bridge before taking the extreme step. From her notebooks, she was identified as Kajal Sahani of Hindi high school, eyewitnesses said.
Four teams of fire services were engaged in the search operation.“We got information that she came straight to the bridge and did not attend school. The school starts at 7 am and she jumped from the bridge at 6.45 am,” said SDPO (Sambalpur Sadar) Tophan Bag.
“My daughter did not have any issues or fights with anyone. I told her not to go to school as it was raining, but she insisted and left home at 6 am,” said Rambhajan Sahani, the girl’s father.TNN
