Class 8 girl kills adoptive mom with help from 2 bfs in Gajapati dist

Berhampur: Nearly 14 years after a woman and her husband rescued an infant from the roadside and gave her a home, the girl was detained on Friday for killing her adoptive mother as she was opposed to her relationship with two youths, both much older to her.Police also arrested the youths — Gahesh Rath (21) and Dinesh Sahu (20) — for smothering the woman with a pillow, leading to her death. The incident took place in Gajapati district last month, but came to light recently after the 54-year-old woman’s brother came across the girl’s mobile phone with chat messages that hinted the Class VIII student’s role in the death. On Wednesday, the girl’s uncle lodged an FIR at Paralakhemundi police station, following which an investigation was launched.Police said woman and her husband did not have a child. They rescued the girl from the roadside in Bhubaneswar when she was barely three days old. However, the man died a year after they adopted the child. The woman moved to Gajapati district and took up a house on rent so that her daughter can study at a school in the area. Some time back the girl developed a relationship with Rath and Sahu. Her mother was opposed to this. It was Rath who instigated her to kill the woman and grab her properties in a bid to strengthen the bond between them, police said.According to the police, the murder took place on April 29 at their rented house. That evening, the girl gave her mother some medicines that put her to sleep. She then called her two boyfriends who smothered her mother with a pillow. After her death, they took her to a local hospital, where doctors declared her dead. After her mother’s death, the girl informed her relatives in Bhubaneswar. The relatives, including the woman’s brother, believed the girl since the deceased had been suffering from heart problems.“But recently, her uncle came across the girl’s mobile phone where he found messages about committing the murder and stealing over 70 grams of gold ornaments and Rs 60,000 in cash,” SP (Gajapati) Jatindra Kumar Panda said. During investigation, police seized three mobile phones, two pillows used to commit the murder and around 30 grams of gold ornaments from the accused. Police also found that prior to killing her mother, the girl had given some gold ornaments to Rath. He pawned the jewellery and got around Rs 2.40 lakh with which he bought a motorcycle.
