Class 10 girl dies, bro hurt as bus rams bike | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A class 10 student returning home after writing her SSC exam died and her brother sustained severe injuries when an HMDA double-decker bus hit their bike on the Gachibowli flyover on Saturday noon.
Prabhati Chhatriya (19), who was a student of a private school in Gachibowli, had her examination centre at ZP High School near Dargah. On Saturday morning, her brother Sumanth Chhatriya (21) had dropped her at the centre and later picked her after the exam. While crossing the flyover on their way home to Lingampally, the bus hit them.
Prabhati received a severe head injury and died on the spot, while Sumanth suffered bleeding injuries on his left leg, a cop said. He was out of danger.
While it usually took less than 10 minutes for her to reach home from the exam centre, it was the news of her death that her parents received as they waited for the children to return. Her parents, who are in the catering business, said they had high hopes for her and were hoping she would come out with flying colours. The girl’s family had migrated to the city from Odisha over a decade ago, police said.
The accident led to a traffic jam on the flyover and police immediately removed the vehicles to regulate movement.
On a complaint from Sumanth, Raidurgam police registered a case against the bus driver and took him into custody.
