Civil Lines, Zero Road bus depots to be shifted for renovation work | Prayagraj News

Prayagraj: For the renovation work of the Civil Lines and Zero Road bus depots, the Civil Lines, Prayag depot, and Zero Road bus stand will be temporarily shifted to the KP Trust land near KP Inter College as the operation of buses would not be possible from here for around two years.The buses for Lucknow, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur routes will run from the vacant ground beside CMP Degree College while buses for Lucknow, Pratapgarh, and Ayodhya routes will be operated from Shankarghat bus station. The operation of buses from the new location will start in the next 8-10 days.A multi-storey building, platform for the operation of buses, and other constructions will be done on these two bus stands. The multi-storey building will have a shopping complex, ATM, etc. Chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh reviewed the progress of the project in a meeting held through video conferencing on Wednesday. According to DM Ravindra Kumar, an agreement has been reached between the district administration and KP Trust for the temporary bus stand. KP Trust president Raghavendra Nath Singh said that the land for the temporary bus stand has been given to the district administration.At the same time, UPSRTC regional manager Ravindra Singh said that it will take two months for the construction work to start at Zero Road Bus Station. Until then, buses will continue to operate from Zero Road and later it will be shifted to the temporary bus station built near KP Inter College. The work of shifting Civil Lines and Prayag Bus depot to the temporary locations has been started.After the construction of toilets, urinals, etc, the operation of buses will start running from the temporary station, said the official adding that it will take 8 to 10 days. After this, buses for Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, etc., districts will be available from next to KP Inter College. Likewise, buses operating from Zero Road will be shifted to the temporary bus station built near KP Inter College. This includes buses for Banda, Mirzapur, and Chitrakoot routes.Buses of Leader Road depot will continue to run from in front of the Prayagraj Junction. After the work of redevelopment of Civil Lines Bus stand starts, the buses of Kanpur, Kaushambi, Agra, and Delhi routes will start operating from in front of Prayagraj Junction. To avoid traffic jams at the junction, roadways have planned to park these buses near Khusro Bagh gate.
