City Cab Drivers Threaten Indefinite Strike in Patna | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: The city cab drivers have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from Wednesday in support of their seven-point demand, including a minimum guaranteed income and scrapping of commission or platform fees by taxi aggregation companies. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Bihar State Motor Cab Drivers’ Association held here on Monday.
Earlier, the drivers had gone on a strike at Patna airport, halting services on Saturday.The strike was called off after assurance from an aggregator company.
Once again, the drivers are rallying for their demands. In the meeting, a two-day ultimatum was given to the aggregator companies. If the demands are not met by Tuesday, all the drivers will go on an indefinite strike again.
Rajkumar Jha, general secretary, All India Road Transport Workers’ Federation, said, “The association has demanded a minimum guaranteed income for the drivers. There should be transparency and a minimum fixed fare per trip according to the distance. GPS and emergency buttons should be installed in the taxis for the safety of the drivers as well as the passengers and others.”
