City boy secures AIR 32 in Army’s TES exam

Bhubaneswar: City boy Shaswat Dashmishra, who has secured an all-India rank of 32nd in the Army’s technical entry scheme (TES) entrance examination, said the course is a perfect blend of engineering and serving the nation.
“Joining the Indian Army has always been my dream. I am grateful for the support of my parents and teachers. I was shortlisted after securing a 95.61 percentile in the JEE (Main) in 2024. I feel there is not enough awareness about the course among JEE aspirants, which allows you to serve the country while pursuing your career,” he said.
Over the next five years, Shaswat will receive one year of training at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, while pursuing a four-year BTech degree at the College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune. He will receive a stipend of Rs 56,100 per month during his studies. Upon completing the training, he will be commissioned as a lieutenant in the Army.
Pooja Dashmishra, Shaswat’s mother, said, “Indian Army offers a unique opportunity for young engineers to serve the nation while building a secure and respected career. Shaswat’s success will give confidence to other children that they can achieve great heights with the right decision and dedication.”
Ajay Mohanty, a Class XII student preparing for JEE (Main), said, “I want to pursue a career that combines my passion for engineering and a chance to serve the country. With the cut-throat competition for admission in technical institutes, TES is a great opportunity.”
