Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) announced the results of the annual higher secondary (Class XII) exams on Sunday and like previous years, girls once again outperformed boys in all fours streams — humanities, science, commerce and vocational.
While the pass percentage in humanities was 80.95%, it was 86.93% in science and 82.27% in commerce. The pass percentage in vocational stream was 68.02%.

Not only in humanities, girls have been doing well in science and commerce as well. Last year, girls had registered a pass percentage of 85.67% compared to 84.28% by boys. In commerce, 83.87% girls cleared the exam as against 79.52% boys.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated all the students who have cleared Class XII and wished them a bright future ahead.
CHSE chairman Aswhini Mishra said like CBSE, the Class X and XII results of Odisha were announced on a single day.
“After 16 years, we released the results of all the three streams of higher secondary exams at one go. The last time it happened was in 2008. Girl students have done better than the boys in all streams,” Mishra said.
