Chirag Paswan Backs JD(U) Candidate in Crucial Tirhut Bypoll | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Monday announced his party’s support for JD(U) candidate Abhishek Jha in the Tirhut graduate constituency byelection. Campaigning for the seat will end on Tuesday and the voting is scheduled for Thursday.
Calling Jha “like my brother” during a media briefing at his party headquarters, Chirag said, “I appeal to all NDA and LJP(RV) supporters in the Tirhut graduate constituency to vote for Jha. There is no confusion within the NDA or LJP(RV) about supporting Jha, despite attempts by some to spread misinformation. We are fully with the NDA and our support is unwavering.”
“The people of Bihar and the country have shown their support for the NDA as reflected in the victories in byelections to four assembly seats in Bihar and the Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections. This support is the result of PM Narendra Modi’s leadership,” he said.
The byelection, necessitated by the election of sitting MLC Dewesh Chandra Thakur to the Lok Sabha, features 18 candidates, including Jha (JD-U), Gopi Kishan (RJD) and Independent Rakesh Rashan. Over 1.07 lakh graduate voters, including teachers, will decide the outcome.
