Chilika lake welcomes luxurious cruise service to boost tourism

Berhampur: In a bid to attract more tourists to Chilika, the biggest waterfowl habitat in the country, the state govt on Saturday launched a luxurious cruise service on the lake.
Deputy CM Prabhati Parida, who holds the tourism portfolio, inaugurated the cruise service in the presence of the law minister, Prithiviraj Harichandan, in the Blue Lagoon on Saturday. The service was launched under the Swadesh Darshan scheme of the Union Ministry of Tourism, sources said.
Two luxury cruises named “Lake Queen” and “Diamond Princess”, each having 40 seats, come with AC cabins, on-board food services, and other modern facilities for tourists. Visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of Kalijai Island and Nalabana Wildlife Sanctuary inside the lake while travelling on the luxury cruises, said Parida. The service on Chilika would boost tourism in the state, she said.
