Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Criticizes Shiv Sena (UBT) as ‘Chinese Umbrella Without Guarantee’ | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Chief minister Eknath Shinde launched a frontal attack on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray basking in his party’s better performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Terming his party the real Shiv Sena at the party’s foundation day function at NSCI Dome in Worli on Wednesday, Shinde said, “It is our right to the Shiv Sena name. They need to get a new name — ‘Uth, Bas Sena (Stand, Sit Sena)’.” The Sena (UBT), Shinde said, was now like a Chinese umbrella with no guarantee.
His party, said Shinde, got 14.5% of the total traditional Shiv Sena votes while Sena (UBT) got a mere 4.5%.“Even an infant will tell that Sena (UBT) won because of the Congress vote bank,” the CM said.
Pointing to his party’s performance, Shinde said, “We won all the seats in Konkan and Sambhajinagar. It does not need to be told why we lost four seats in Mumbai. Sena (UBT) fought on 21 seats and won nine, while we fought 15 seats and won 7. They secured 42% vote share while we got 47%. Each of our 15 candidates polled more than 4.9 lakh votes, while their candidates polled 4.5 lakh votes each. Your Shiv Sena proved to be the best.”
Alluding to the minorities having voted en block to Sena (UBT), Shinde cited examples of polling stations in the minority-dominated areas where Sena (UBT) secured huge leads.
He said it was the same story in Mumbai South and South-Central. “Rahul Shewale in Dharavi, Anushakti Nagar got 1% of the votes to their 99%. Which mobile phone did you connect to the EVM? How is this possible? Should we also raise suspicion? If you win, the EVM is good, and if you lose, the EVM is bad,” he said.
Taunting Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA from Worli Aaditya Thackeray, Shinde said, his party got a mere lead of 6,000 votes from his constituency where they claimed they would get a lead of 50,000. “You will need to find a new assembly constituency like Bhendi Bazaar,” said Shinde.
Ravindra Waikar’s victory in Mumbai North-West LS constituency has hurt UBT badly, the CM. He also urged the Sainiks present at the venue to strengthen the party and ensure the victory of Mahayuti in the oncoming assembly elections.
