Chennai Student Suicide: Class 12 Boy Jumps to Death After Bullying Over Appearance | Chennai News – The Times of India

CHENNAI: A 17-year-old boy leaped off the fourth floor of his apartment after being bullied by his classmates, police said on Wednesday.
The boy, Kishore, and his mother, a Tangedco employee, had submitted a written complaint to the school principal that afternoon, saying how three of his classmates had been bullying him, calling him “ugly,” “skinny,” and “dark.”
The school reportedly acknowledged the complaint and promised to investigate the matter. Police said the Class XII student was depressed after returning to his home at Sendoor Park Apartment on Dr Gurusamy Road at 2.30pm.
When Kishore told his mother he wanted to go out for cycling, she asked him to stay home. After a while, not finding him at home, she went to the fourth-floor terrace and found him sitting on the edge of the parapet. Before she could stop him, the boy jumped.
Cops are checking for suicide note
The incident took place around 6.15pm. Residents who heard the thud took him to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Kishore’s father, Gopinath, works as a department head at a car company in Sriperumbudur.
Police have registered a case and are investigating. Officials are also checking if Kishore had left behind any suicide note.
Joint commissioner of police (East Chennai) P Vijayakumar said, “We have registered a case of unnatural death. If bullying is confirmed, we will alter the FIR and take necessary action.”
