CBI starts probe into cheating, forgery by rly employees | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched an investigation into alleged cheating and forgery by four former railway employees regarding construction irregularities in Sundargarh district’s Rajgangpur.
Following the Lokpal’s directive on March 4, a case was registered at CBI’s Bhubaneswar office on Monday against the former employees and a construction firm. The Lokpal’s order did not disclose the identities of both the complainant and the accused public servants.
“The accused have been charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, use of forged document and criminal misconduct by public servants. The alleged offence occurred between 2016 and 2023,” a CBI source said, without disclosing further details.
According to sources, a complaint was lodged with the Lokpal in 2024 (case no 143/2024), highlighting substantial irregularities in tender allocation and work execution in Rajgangpur under the South Eastern Railway network.
The accused include a former senior section engineer (works), two junior engineers (works) and an executive engineer (works). Sources said that these officers allegedly misused their positions to extend unfair advantages to a construction company.
