CBI gets 5-day custody of 3 accused in NEET case | Patna News – Times of India



Patna: The three persons arrested from Hazaribag in connection with the NEET UG-2024 paper leak case were remanded in CBI custody for five days by a special court of the central probe agency after their medical examination at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital in Patna on Saturday. The arrested individuals included principal Ehsanul Haque and vice-principal Md Imtiaz of Oasis School, Hazaribag, and Md Jamaluddin, a journalist.
The principal and vice-principal of Hazaribag school, one of the centres for the exam conducted on May 5, were arrested after three days of questioning involving more than 60 hours over allegations of tampering of question papers.Haque was also the city coordinator of Hazaribag for NEET UG, while the vice-principal was designated as the NTA’s observer and the centre coordinator at the school. All the three arrested persons were taken to the CBI office in Patna for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, the CBI has uncovered a Gujarat connection in the ongoing NEET-UG paper leak case. Raids were conducted at seven locations across four districts in the state, including Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, and Godhra, on Friday. The CBI searched the residences of suspects, seizing crucial documents and electronic devices. “During the investigations, it was revealed that the case is linked to interstate gangs. Gangs from Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat also appear to be involved in the leak case,” EOU sources said.
The CBI has registered six FIRs in the case, including one in Gujarat.
