Mumbai: The CBI has registered 11 FIRs against officials at Pay & Accounts Artillery/Army Aviation Centre in Nashik, a training facility operating under the Controller General of Defence Accounts, for allegedly exploiting army personnel by demanding payments for non-entitled services or expedited processing of legitimate claims.
On Tuesday, CBI officials conducted searches at various locations including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Ahmedabad, Fatehabad, and Pulgaon (Nagpur). The CBI, along with officers from Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Army), Pune, conducted joint surprise checks and allegedly found evidence of bribe-related transactions and communications in the accused officials’ chat messages. Evidence included an instance where an accused officer shared his wife’s account details, and another message showed a screenshot of a bribe payment of Rs 5,000. — Vijay V Singh
