Car rams into police patrol team in Kamareddy, constable dies | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A 40-year-old police constable, Vadla Ravi Kumar, on patrol duty, died after a speeding car rammed into him and another constable at Gandhari in Kamareddy district early on Thursday morning. The other constable, who noticed the vehicle speeding in their direction, managed to run to safety, but suffered injuries. He is recuperating at a govt hospital.
Around 2.50am, two constables, Ravi Kumar and Subhash of Gandhari police station, who were part of the Blue Colts team, were on patrol duty on their two-wheeler and stopped by the roadside for observation. Suddenly, a car, moving from Kamareddy and heading towards Banswada, hit them and sped away. Ravi Kumar, a constable of the 2007 batch, died on the spot, while Subhash was admitted to the Kamareddy govt hospital with injuries, police said.
The visuals of Ravi Kumar being hit by the speeding car were also captured in CCTV footage near a kirana store at Hanuman Junction near the bus station. During the investigation, police found that the car was driven by one Sonuguri Sannith and the accident was a result of alleged reckless driving by him.
Kamareddy SP Rajesh Chandra expressed his condolences to constable Ravi Kumar’s family. The constable, who hailed from Dheme village in Tadwai mandal, won several awards for his services, the SP added.
