Cabbie drives car onto Karnataka's Tekal railway station, lands on tracks

Kolar: A 32-year-old cabbie drove his car on to the platform at Tekal railway station, about 35km from Kolar, Saturday midnight, triggering panic.
The car fell on to the tracks but as there were no train services at the time, major damage was averted. The car was removed from the track with the help of a crane, said a source in the railway protection force.
The cabbie, Rakesh Gowda, is from Bannur near Mysuru.
It was not clear as to why he drove the taxi onto the platform. The authorities are waiting for the medical report to ascertain whether he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of incident. An FIR in this regard has been registered.
Car gutted, none hurt
A car was completely gutted after it caught fire while moving on harvested horsegram crop spread on the road to be threshed by passing vehicles. near Sunupukunte village at Mulbagal taluk in Kolar district on Sunday afternoon.
The dry plants caught fire after coming in contact with the car’s silencer and soon the vehicle went up in flames.
The five occupants in the car immediately got down, police said.
It is a common practice in Kolar and elsewhere to spread the harvested crops on the road to be threshed by vehicles passing by.
