Patna: More than 3.13 lakh voters are expected to cast their votes in the byelection for the Rupauli assembly seat in Purnia district on Wednesday.
According to official data from the Election Commission, out of 3,13,664 voters, 161,712 are men and 151,936 women. Voting will take place at 321 polling booths, with 291 located in rural areas and the remainder in urban areas.Among the electorate, 59 voters are over 100-year-old, and 1,967 are over 85. First-time voters aged 18-19 number 3,951, including 1,721 women and 2,230 males.
A total of 11 candidates are contesting the Rupauli seat, with the main competition among RJD’s Bima Bharti, JD(U)’s Kaladhar Prasad Mandal, and Independent Shankar Singh. Both the ruling NDA and the opposition Grand Alliance are heavily invested in winning this seat, which has become a matter of prestige.
