Buxar & Bhojpur boil at 45.9 degrees Celsius | Patna News – Times of India



Patna: The mercury mayhem continued in the state, as “severe heatwave” conditions were witnessed in seven districts and “heatwave” at 13 places, including Patna, on Monday.
Buxar and Bhojpur sizzled at record-breaking temperature of 45.9 degree Celsius on Monday, making them the hottest places in the state.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red’ alert for severe heatwave in south-west and south-central parts (including Patna) for the next 24 hours.The maximum high daytime temperatures in these districts are expected to surpass 42-44 degrees Celsius.
According to weathermen, heatwave conditions will likely persist in most districts of the southern parts and in one or two places of the northern region till June 14. The state disaster management department has also alerted districts to remain watchful of the harsh weather condition. Instructions have been issued to take appropriate precautions and safety measures like avoiding going out in the sun, especially between 12 noon and 3pm.
Kumar Gaurav, duty officer at local MeT office said, “There is no possibility of any significant change in the maximum temperature of the state during the next three-four days, thereafter the maximum temperature will gradually fall. Hot and humid day will be observed in most parts of the state till June 14,” he said.
The weathermen have also made prediction of thunderstorm, coupled with lightning with gusty wind (40-50 kmph), which will likely occur at one or two places over north and south-east parts of the state on Friday.
Nikhil, a duty officer at Patna Meteorological Centre said the real-feel temperature increased because of rise of humidity level. “On Monday, the moisture-level in the air was 43% while it was 21% on Sunday,” he said.
