Police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the attack on the businessman. No FIR was lodged till the time of reporting.

Eyewitnesses said three criminals were waiting outside the shop of Ankesh in Murliganj market since morning.As soon as he opened his shop and sat at the counter, the criminals opened fire on him. While one bullet hit his chest and another injured his neck, they said.
The criminals after committing the crime, left the market brandishing firearms.
Locals rushed injured Ankesh to Murliganj community health centre from where the doctors referred him to Jannayak Karpoori Thakur Medical College and Hospital in Madhepura town. Seeing his serious condition, the doctors again referred him to higher centre of medical care for treatment.
Murliganj SHO Ajeet Kumar, accompanied by police force, reached the spot to probe the case. Ankesh, a native of Bhatni village under Kumarkhand police station, had settled in Rahika Tola under Murliganj nagar panchayat six years back and had been running business since then, he said. “The businessman is undergoing treatment and police are investigating the case. We are taking the help of forensic experts to identify the criminals involved in attacking him,” said Pravendra Bharti, SDPO Madhepura.
Local chamber of commerce has expressed serious concern over the attack on the trader and demanded immediate arrest of the assailants. One of the members, Dinesh Mishra, demanded safety of the businessmen and regular patrolling of the market area by the police.
