Bus helper detained for kidnap, rape of 6-yr-old girl | Bhubaneswar News
Rourkela: Police on Sunday detained the helper of a bus on the charges of kidnapping and raping a six-year-old girl in Sundargarh district on Saturday evening.
Cases of kidnapping and rape and under Section 6 of the Pocso Act were registered against the accused on Saturday night on the basis of a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother. Medical examination of the survivor was conducted on Sunday.
According to the complaint, family members of the girl and some local residents had booked a private bus on Saturday to attend the engagement ceremony of a relative. After reaching the destination, while all of them were attending the ceremony, the minor girl was playing with some other kids outside.
“The bus helper allegedly took the girl to an abandoned railway quarter on the pretext of taking her to a nearby shop and sexually abused her,” a police officer said.
When the woman searched for her daughter and could not locate her, she informed her brother-in-law. Her brother-in-law and a few other persons launched a search and found the helper with the minor girl in the abandoned house. After spotting them, the helper fled from the spot. The girl was rescued and brought back.
