Rourkela: A BSF jawan who was injured during Operation Sindoor at the Jammu border returned to his village in Sundargarh district on Monday. Manohar Xalxo (35) suffered fractures in his ring finger and severe wounds in his thumb when splinters hit his right hand during a Pakistani drone attack on May 10.“Around 6:30 am, Pakistan launched constant drone attacks and bombarded our area. While we were returning fire from our bunker, I was hit,” said Xalxo, who was evacuated to a military hospital in Jammu.After receiving treatment and being discharged on May 26, Xalxo was granted four weeks’ leave by his commandant Ajay Sharma. “Although I was injured, I feel proud that I fought for my country during Operation Sindoor, and we emerged victorious against Pakistan,” said Xalxo, who joined BSF in April 2013.Xalxo’s wife and two daughters, aged 4 and 1, reside in a rented house in Sundargarh, while his siblings live in his native Harasmara village under Gundiadih panchayat in Lephirpada block.
