BSF: BSF unearths ‘Maoist’ arms in Malkangiri | Bhubaneswar News
Koraput: Acting on specific intelligence, a Border Security Force (BSF) team from the 2nd battalion conducted a successful operation in the Tulsi Dongri reserve forest area in Malkangiri district, uncovering a suspected Maoist cache hidden beneath a rock cavity along the foothills near Kirmiti village under Mathili police limits on Tuesday.
According to a BSF release, during the intensive search, the security personnel found several items supposedly intended for use by Maoists.The discovery, located approximately 3 kilometers northeast of COB Tulsi, included a steel tiffin improvised explosive device (IED) of 1.5 kilogram, gun power weighing 300 grams, Maoist uniform, flexible wires of around 8 meters, a iron cutter among other items.
Officials said that the BSF has been conducting relentless operations in the Naxal-affected district of Malkangiri, aiming to dismantle the operational capabilities of Maoist insurgents. “This latest seizure is expected to significantly impact the Maoists’ strategy and morale, hindering their ability to launch attacks against security forces and police, “ said the BSF release.
“These areas were previously heavily influenced by Maoists and their sympathizers. The Maoist outfits would stockpile IEDs, arms, and materials for IED-making in isolated places to target security forces operating in the region,” said a BSF spokesperson.
“In light of this discovery, further combing and search operations have been planned to ensure the safety and security of both the security forces and the local inhabitants. The BSF remains committed to maintaining dominance and ensuring peace in the area,” the spokesperson added.
